Government Funded Hours

All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to claim 15hrs free nursery placement with us at Lingwood Kindergarten, how you as parents decide to spread that time over the course of a week is up to you. Under a new government initiative some working families who have 3 and 4 year olds may be eligible for up to 30 hours funded nursery care per week, for 38 weeks of the year. We are happy for you to use all or part of your 30 hours here and can help you find out if you are eligible for this.  Some 2 year olds are also eligible for funding but families have to meet certain criteria, this can be explained to you by the Polly or Rachael in setting.

Our session times are generally 9.00am – 12.00 or 12.00 – 3.00pm, however we are open from 8:15am. We understand its hard to fit your child’s sessions in with daily routines and other commitments so these session times can be varied to suit your needs.

Uniform

It is not compulsory for our children to wear the Lingwood Kindergarten uniform but sweatshirts and polo shirts are available to purchase from School Trends.co.uk website, leaflets are available from nursery; should you wish your child to wear one. We feel our uniform gives the children a sense of identity, making them part of the setting and parents have said they save their own clothes from getting messy! We also think the use of a uniform helps children prepare for school.

Bookbags are also available for £5 at the nursery to keep your stories and creations safe to take home.

Key person

When your child starts nursery they will be given a key person, this will be the person to complete your child’s learning journey and encourage their learning and development throughout their time at Lingwood Kindergarten. However all of the staff at Lingwood kindergarten will be there to support your child and encourage them through their learning and development also.

There will be an opportunity for you every term (3 times a year) to meet with your child’s key person to discuss their progress and to through their learning journey so far. This is a lovely time to see photos of your child enjoying themselves and also for you to add your thoughts and feeling about how you would like us to support them next. You child’s key worker will arrange an appointment with you a week before you meeting.

Starting Lingwood Kindergarten

We believe that the first years of children’s learning set the foundations on which to build, and everyone working at Lingwood puts every effort into creating a secure, caring and positive environment in which your child is encouraged to develop to his or her full potential. They are encouraged to be independent, to develop a sense of responsibility and the confidence to accept change as they go through different transitions. We are proud of all the children in our care, and their achievements, and our expectations of both their learning and development are high.

Lingwood Kindergarten values the strong relationships we develop with parents, and we ask you to provide as much information about your child as you wish, take the time to chat with your child’s key person and keep us updated about development milestones, achievements, learning at home or events within your family. We believe that more can be achieved if nursery staff and parents work well together in partnership.

We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to plan for children’s learning. Constant observation of children at play informs our short term weekly planning to ensure it is current and in line with ever changing interests. This information is then stored in your child’s individual learning journey which is also available for you to contribute to with things we can share with your child at nursery such as a special family event, an interest, an experience or something new they have learnt at home.
