Welcome back everyone to the summer term, we hope you all had an enjoyable Easter break.!
Over the coming weeks the children will be involved in a variety of activities around gardening and growing plants, vegetable and flowers. All activities will be planned in conjunction with the EYFS and through the interests of the children. We will be turning our role play area into a garden centre which will hopefully inspire imaginative play, we would be grateful of unwanted items which we could use i.e plant pots, tubs, empty seed packets, artificial flowers, ‘child friendly’ tools, gloves etc. The children will have the opportunity to plant seeds and bulbs, explore the garden and outside area, using their senses to discover. We have had a kind donation from Harry’s Dad of various seeds and pots to use. We plan to grow cress, green beans and tomatoes with a view to use them at snack time so children can sample the things they have grown.
During creative activities the children will have a chance to print/collage/paint flowers, plants etc. We will be talking about growing and what plants need. Also collaging with natural materials, mixing paints and making patterns, and also creating play dough models. It will be beneficial to your child’s knowledge and understanding if you talk at home about what they are learning at nursery. Thank you to everyone who is collecting the vouchers this year from Tesco and Sainsburys. We should be able to send away for lots of new equipment to use at nursery. Also thank you to those who donated their old mobile phones last term for recycling and well done to Samuel who was a top prize winner! As a reminder - ALL your child’s belongings such as their lunchbox, bag, coat, sweatshirt, toys, wellies, drink bottle etc need to be clearly named. This is very important so your child returns home with the correct items.
Also, we would appreciate any unwanted items of clothing for our ‘spares’ box Thank you!
Thanks!
