Lingwood Kindergarten

News Letter

Autumn Term!

Welcome back everyone to the Autumn Term! We hope you all had an enjoyable summer holiday

As of now, Lingwood Kindergarten is working in conjunction with the new Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which is the new curriculum for birth to 5 years. It replaces ‘Birth to Three’ and the 3-5 years Foundation Stage, as you may already know. The new set-up does not require us to work within a topic or theme, it is more towards what the children want to learn and planning will based around their interests displayed through observations made during their sessions and from what you as parents, tell us. We will still incorporate celebrations and festivals as they arise.  You should be aware that your child’s records are now in the form of ‘My Learning Journey’ please make sure you discuss this with your child’s key person regularly, it will prove to be an important part of your child’s time with us at Lingwood.

Our ‘routine’ has changed slightly as we are trying out a new method of snack time. We are testing the ‘rolling snack’ idea over the coming weeks. An explanation of how this works will be on the notice board. Thank you to everyone who has donated their old mobile phones. So far, we have managed to collect 77 phones for which we will receive prizes and a £75 cheque which will go towards new resources for the nursery. The campaign is still running so please tell your friends/family/work colleagues – thank you!

As the winter approaches we would like every child to have a pair of wellies to be kept at nursery so we can still use the outside area. We have invested in some umbrellas and rain capes so we can splash in the rain and puddles without getting too wet! Please would you make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly named, this is important. One other reminder is, when you bring your child into nursery please take them into the library and help them to choose a new book and find their named apple/orange to stick on the tree. We have found that doing this routine with your child helps to settle them into the session.

Term dates are as follows – finish for 2 week half term holiday on Friday 17th October, returning on Monday 3rd November. Finish for Christmas holiday on Friday 19th December.

Thanks!
