We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new children and families to Lingwood Kindergarten and to welcome back everyone who was with us last term.!
We believe that the first years of children’s learning set the foundations on which to build, and everyone working at Lingwood puts every effort into creating a secure, caring and positive environment in which your child is encouraged to develop to his or her full potential. They are encouraged to be independent, to develop a sense of responsibility and the confidence to accept change as they go through different transitions. We are proud of all the children in our care, and their achievements, and our expectations of both their learning and development are high.
Lingwood Kindergarten values the strong relationships we develop with parents, and we ask you to provide as much information about your child as you wish, take the time to chat with your child’s key person and keep us updated about development milestones, achievements, learning at home or events within your family. We believe that more can be achieved if nursery staff and parents work well together in partnership.
We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to plan for children’s learning. Constant observation of children at play informs our short term weekly planning to ensure it is current and in line with ever changing interests. This information is then stored in your child’s individual learning journey which is also available for you to contribute to with things we can share with your child at nursery such as a special family event, an interest, an experience or something new they have learnt at home.
We are continuing with our ‘Letter of the Week’ as this has proven to be very popular with the children and the parents! We will start again with the letter ‘a’ week beginning Monday 12th September. We ask everyone to bring an object starting with our letter of the week (labelled with the child’s name) and place it in our sound box. At circle time we see what we have collected and reinforce the initial letter. It has worked really well in the past to help children gain confidence with letters and sounds.
A few reminders – please help your child to find their named apple and stick it on the tree in the library and change their books with them when necessary. Also we ask that you regularly remove your child’s pictures/art & craft work, from their book bag and please write your child’s name on everything they bring to nursery, this saves items from being lost or claimed by someone else. Would you please make sure that we are provided with up to date contact details notifying us of any changes to your home address, telephone numbers or parental responsibility issues.
We have a book in the entrance for you write in any general comments about the nursery positive or negative! We can then hopefully address these as necessary. Thank you.
Thanks!
Mrs. Ling & Staff
